Home My WebLink AboutR-98-0671J-98-729 7/14/98 RESOLUTION NO. - 71 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE BID OF INTERAMERICAN CAR RENTAL, INC., UTILIZING EXISTING MIAMI-DADE CONTRACT NO. 5961-4/03, FOR THE PROVISION OF AUTOMOBILE RENTAL ON AN AS -NEEDED CONTRACT BASIS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION, SAID RENTALS TO BE USED BY VARIOUS CITY DEPARTMENTS AT AN INITIAL FIRST YEAR COST NOT TO EXCEED $160,000, WITH THE OPTION TO EXTEND FOR TWO ( 2 ) ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIODS; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE BUDGETS OF THE VARIOUS USER DEPARTMENTS AT TIME OF NEED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, it has been determined that the rental of vehicles on a short term basis is needed for special projects, programs and unforeseen emergencies; and WHEREAS, the Department of General Services Administration analyzed Miami -Dade County contracts related to the rental of automobiles on an as -need basis; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of General Services Administration recommend the award of such contract to InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., utilizing existing Miami -Dade County Contract No. 5961-4/03, at an initial first year cost not to exceed $160,000, with the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, subject to the availability of CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF JP 1 1 4 1998 Roswutiun Na 9 8 - 671 funds, be approved; and WHEREAS, funding is available from the budgets of the various user departments at time of need with budgetary approval; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid of InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., utilizing existing Miami -Dade County Contract No. 5961-4/03, for the provision of automobile rental on an as -needed contract basis for the Department of General Services Administration, said rental to be used by various City departments, at an initial first year cost not to exceed $160,000, with the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, is hereby approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the budgets of the various user departments at time of need with budgetary approval. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorizedl/ to execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. Further authorizing an award to InterAmerican Car Rental, Inc., a non-minority/local vendor, located at 1790 N.W. LeJeune Road, Miami, Florida 33126, in an annual amount not to exceed $65,000, with the option to extend for two additional one year periods, subject to the availability of funds. Funds are available from the budgets of the various user departments. BACKGROUND: The Department of General Services Administration has analyzed the Miami -Dade County contract, and has determined that it shall allow for the rental of vehicles on a short term basis for special projects, programs, and unforeseen emergencies. This contract shall also be used to rent passenger vans for the Parks and Recreation Department's Disabilities Division until the new bids for purchase of vans are received and awarded.
