A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPROVING THE APPLICATION BY FLORIDA
INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT & HOTEL EXPOSITION,
INC., FOR A TWO-DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT FOR
THE DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS
OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE
LAW, AND TO ALLOW CONSUMPTION OF SUCH
BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT
GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA,
DURING THE PERIOD OF JULY 11-12, 1998, SUCH
APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO
THE STATE'S ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT.
WHEREAS, Section 561.421, Florida Statutes, Temporary
Convention Permits, states that in convention halls, coliseums,
and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage
license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or
board of county commissioners, the director may, in his
discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days
for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products
licensed under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of
such beverages on the premises only; and
WHEREAS, the State Beverage Director requires the approval

of such permits issuance from the City Commission for liquor
display and consumption during the herein show to be held at the
Coconut Grove Convention Center in July, 1998;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby approves the
application by Florida International Restaurant & Hotel
Exposition, Inc., for a two-day liquor permit to allow display by
manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the
Beverage Law and to allow consumption of such beverages on the
premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida,
during the period of July 11 and 12, 1998.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective

immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving
the request by Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery Exposition, Inc. for a two-day
liquor permit. This permit will allow the display by manufacturers or distributors of products
licensed under the State Beverage Law, and the consumption of such beverages, on the premises
of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of July 11 and 12,
1998.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommends that the City
Commission approve the request of Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery Exposition,
Inc. for a two-day liquor permit. Section 561.421, TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS,
of the Florida State Beverage Law, states:
In convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing
beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county
commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than
five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products
licensed under the Beverage Law; and may authorize consumption of such beverages
on the premises only.
The beverages will be dispensed free of charge during the Florida International Restaurant, Hotel
& Bakery Exposition.
