A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A TELEPHONE TARIFF AGREEMENT, IN
A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH BELLSOUTH
TELECOMMUNICATIONS, INC., FOR THE PROVISION OF T1
MEGALINK CIRCUIT SERVICES FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY-FOUR
(24) MONTHS TO PROVIDE DATA COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN
THE OFFICE OF WORK FORCE DEVELOPMENT AND THE MIAMI
RIVERSIDE CENTER; AT A TOTAL PROPOSED INSTALLATION COST
OF $1,471 AND AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,000;
ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO.
184089.454006.6.510 FOR SAID SERVICES.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for Information Technology to secure T1 Megalink circuit services
to establish a reliable, high-speed data communications link to enhance communications and
facilitate the transmission of data between the Office of Work Force Development and the Miami
Riverside Center; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Work Force Development recently relocated to 1313 N.W. 36
Street and is in urgent need of linking their computer network to the Miami Riverside Center in order
to provide essential services to citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Work Force Development is currently using BellSouth as the
provider of voice services at this locations, and;
WHEREAS, the City Commission previously approved similar BellSouth T1 Megalink Circuit
Services to link Miami City Hall with the Miami Riverside Center, and;
WHEREAS, this service is being recommended for approval in compliance with Sec. 18-80,
Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby
adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized' to negotiate and execute a telephone
tariff agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc.
for the provision of T1 Megalink circuit services for a period of twenty-four (24) months to provide
data communications between the Office of Work Force Development and the Miami Riverside
Center at a total proposed installation cost of $1,471 and an annual amount not to exceed $6,000;
allocating funds therefor from Account Code No.. 184089.454006.6.510.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute a telephone tariff agreement with
BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., for the provision of T1 Megalink circuit services
for the Office of Workforce Development in a total amount not to exceed $13,500. The
Office of Workforce Development is currently using BellSouth as the provider of voice
services at this new location. Funds for this acquisition are to be allocated from account
code 184089.454006.6.510.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of Workforce Development recently relocated to 1313 N.W. 36 Street. It is
extremely urgent that the acquisition of T1 Megalink circuit services be provided to
establish a reliable, high-speed data communications link between this new location and
the Miami Riverside Center to enhance communications and facilitate the transmission of
data in order to provide essential services to citizens.

The Office of Work Force Development recently relocated to 1313 N.W. 36 Street. The
acquisition of T1 Megalink circuit services is necessary to establish a reliable, high-speed
data communications link between this new location and the Miami Riverside Center to
enhance communications and facilitate the transmission of data. Miami -Dade County
currently has a contract (13W5381-1) for the provision of telephone tariff agreements.
This expenditure is to be allocated from account code 184089.454006.6.510.
This department has verified funding with the Department of Budget that funds are
available to cover the cost of installation at a proposed amount of $1471 and an annual
amount not to exceed $6,000. Funds for this acquisition are to be allocated from account
code 184089.454006.6.510.
