HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-98-0459J-98-472 5/1 /98 RESOLUTION NO. 9 8- 4 5 9 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF BANNERMAN LANDSCAPING, INC., FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF A 500 LINEAR FOOT CONCRETE WALKWAY AT MERRIE CHRISTMAS PARK FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, AT A TOTAL COST OF $6,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 331379, "MERRIE CHRISTMAS PARK RENOVATIONS", ACCOUNT CODE NO. 589301-860; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR SAID SERVICE. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice sealed bids were received March 23, 1998, for the furnishing and installation of a 500 linear foot concrete walkway at Merrie Christmas Park for the Department of Parks and Recreation; and WHEREAS, invitations for Bid No. 97-98-030-M/WBE were mailed to seventy-one (71) potential bidders and five (5) responsive bids were received; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has received community input as to the needs of Merrie Christmas Park from the neighborhood residents and the local NET Office; and WHEREAS, among the high priority items is a concrete walkway for handicapped access; and WHEREAS, funding is available from Capital Improvement Project No. 331379, "Merrie Christmas Park Renovations", Account Code No. 589301-860; and :CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF MAY 1 2 1998 aezolutkm r4o. WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Parks and Recreation recommend that the bid received from Bannerman Landscaping, Inc., be accepted as the lowest most responsive and responsible bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid submitted by Bannerman Landscaping, Inc., for the furnishing and installation of a 500 linear foot concrete walkway at Merrie Christmas Park, at a total cost of $6,000.00, for the Department of Parks and Recreation, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 331379, "Merrie Christmas Park Renovations", Account Code No. 589301-860. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order for said installation. Section 4. Funds are available from Dade County ADA Grant funds in the Capital Improvement Project No. 331379, "Merrie Christmas Park Renovations", Account Code No. 589301-860. BACKGROUND The Department of Parks and Recreation has received community input as to the needs of Merrie Christmas Park from the neighborhood residents and the local NET Office. Among the items described to be of great need was 4 concrete walkway for handicapped access. This improvement, which was listed in the Capital Improvement Ordinance (CIP Project No. 331379) approved by the City Commission on March 24, 1998, will assist in improving this park's accessibility to wheelchairs. The Department of Parks and Recreation has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 97-98-030-M/WBE. Seventy-one (71) invitations for bids were mailed and seven responses were received. Two were deemed non -responsive because they were not certified as a minority or female by the City of Miami as required. The bid submitted by Bannerman Landscaping, Inc., was deemed as the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder, and is therefore recommend for award.
