("HABITAT") IN THE OVERTOWN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TARGET AREA AND AS PROPOSED TO BE DEVELOPED BY HABITAT IN THE LITTLE HAITI COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TARGET AREA ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE MIAMI COMPREHENSIVE PLAN 1989-2000 AND THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT CONSOLIDATED PLAN; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO FORWARD A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA OFFICE OF TOURISM, TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. WHEREAS, in the City of Miami, there exists a severe shortage of housing within the affordability range of families and individuals of low- and moderate -income; and WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes that the participation of both the public and private sectors is necessary to foster the development of housing affordable to low- and moderate -income families and individuals ("Affordable Housing") in the City; and WHEREAS, in support of the development of such Affordable Housing the City has provided funding to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, Inc. ("Habitat") to acquire land on which to develop Affordable Housing in the Overtown and Little Haiti Community Development Target Areas; and CITY COM OSSION MEETp c, , OF APP 4 x, '- 3 C� RRevolution No. 11 JJ�� 9 8 — 3: V WHEREAS, Habitat has constructed Affordable Housing in Overtown and in is proposing to construct Affordable Housing in Little Haiti, in conformity with the Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan 1989-2000 and the Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Plan; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 220.183, Florida Statutes, the Community Contribution Tax Credit Program provides an incentive to encourage Florida corporations to make donations toward community development and low income housing projects to eligible sponsors of such projects; and WHEREAS, Habitat is desirous of becoming an eligible sponsor; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. It is hereby certified that the scattered site housing projects, affordable to low -and moderate -income families and individuals, as developed and as proposed to be developed by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, Inc. in the Overtown Community Development Target Area and in the Little Haiti Community Development Target Area, respectively, are consistent with the Miami Comprehensive Neighborhood Plan 1989-2000 and the Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Plan. 2 98- 3O Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the State of Florida Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development. Section 4.
