A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF THE BLACK
ARCHIVES, HISTORY & RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF SOUTH
FLORIDA, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000, ALLOCATING FUNDS
THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT
NUMBERS 690001, 690002, AND 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURES
HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING
WITH THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO
EQUITABLE SHARING," AND FLORIDA STATE STATUTES, CHAPTER
932.7055, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and
Florida State Statutes, Chapter 932.7055, as amended, authorize the expenditure of shared
cash or proceeds for law enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department believes it is imperative that we contribute to our
youth's development through positive incentive programs; and
WHEREAS, the Black Archives History & Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc.,
will feature as primary guest speaker via satellite, Mrs. Hillary Rodham-Clinton, to address
the Overtown community in celebration of Black History Month; and
WHEREAS, this contribution will underwrite the cost of the necessary satellite
equipment for this event; and

WHEREAS, funds to cover this expenditure have not been included in the Police
Department's normal operating budget and are available in the City of Miami Law
Enforcement Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has
certified that the expenditure complies with the U. S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing," and Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are
hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Funding for the Black Archives History & Research Foundation of South
Florida, Inc., in the amount of $6,000, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001, 690002, and
690003, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with the
U.S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing," and Florida State Statutes,
932.7055, as amended.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing funding, in the amount of $6,000.00, for The Black Archives, History & Research
Foundation of South Florida, Inc. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust
Fund, from Project Numbers 690001, 690002, and 690003.
BACKGROUND:
The Miami Police Department supports organizations such as The Black Archives, History &
Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc. This organization has requested that the Police
Department underwrite the cost of the necessary satellite equipment required to enable Mrs. Hillary'
Rodham Clinton to be the primary guest speaker via satellite to address the Overtown community
in celebration of Black History Month.
