RESOLUTION NO. 9 8 -- 318
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
SUPPORTING SB 1478 AND HB 3827, THE HOMEOWNERS'
PROTECTION ACT, PROPOSED BY THE FLORIDA INSURANCE
COMMISSIONER AT THE 1998 FLORIDA I Frici ATlx/F
SESSION; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A
COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN NAMED
OFFICIALS.
WHEREAS, Florida Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson is proposing comprehensive
legislation in the 1998 legislative session to provide needed relief and protection for
Floridians in the homeowners insurance market; and
WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wishes to express its support for the
adoption of this legislation by the State of Florida Senate and House of Representatives;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution
are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby expresses its support of HB 3827
and SB 1478, the Homeowners' Protection Act, proposed by the Florida Insurance
Commissioner at the 1998 Florida State Legislative Session.

Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution
to the members of the Miami -Dade County Delegation, State of Florida Insurance
Commissioner, Speaker of the House of Representatives and President of the State
Senate.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
