A RESOLUTION APPROVING EAST COAST
ADVERTISING'S REQUEST TO PLACE AN OUTDOOR
ADVERTISING SIGN (BILLBOARD) ON THE PROPERTY
LOCATED AT APPROXIMATELY 515 NORTHWEST 71ST
STREET SUBJECT TO THE CONDITIONS SPECIFIED
HEREIN.
WHEREAS, at its meeting of January 27, 1998, the City
Commission adopted Ordinance No. 11604 which approved the
placement of a tenth billboard within 200 feet of a limited
access highway; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 11604 further states that the
placement of said billboard shall require City Commission
approval; and
WHEREAS, East Coast Advertising, the "Applicant" has
requested to place the tenth billboard along I-95 at
approximately 515 N.W. 71St Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, after careful consideration of
this matter, deems it advisable and in the best interest of the
general welfare of the City of Miami and its inhabitants to
approve the placement of the tenth outdoor advertising sign
(billboard) subject to the herein conditions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The request to place an outdoor advertising
sign (billboard) on the property located at approximately 515
Northwest 71St Street is hereby granted subject to the following
conditions:
(1) the landscape plan submitted by the
applicant shall be modified to add more
ground cover, hedges and trees prior to
the issuance of a building permit for the
proposed billboard; and
(2) the property, including all new landscape
materials to be planted, shall be
maintained so as not to create a visual
blight to the neighborhood as the result
of the billboard.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve the attached request to
place an outdoor advertising sign (billboard) on the property located at approximately 515
N.W. 7 1 ' Street with the conditions specified below.
BACKGROUND
At its meeting of January 27, 1998, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 11604
which approved the placement of a tenth billboard within 200 feet of a limited access
highway; that ordinance required that the placement of said billboard shall require City
Commission approval. The attached request is in order to place the tenth billboard along_
I-95 at approximately 515 N.W. 71 S` Street.
The Department of Planning and Development has reviewed the proposal for the
billboard as specified above and recommends approval subject to the following
conditions:
1) The landscape plan submitted by the applicant shall be modified to add
more ground cover, hedges and trees prior to the issuance of a building
permit for the proposed billboard; and
2) The property, including all new landscape materials to be planted,
shall be maintained so as not to create a visual blight to the
neighborhood as the result of the billboard.
