HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-98-0296J-98-335 3/17/98 RESOLUTION NO. 9 8- 296 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING TRUST FUND IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $60,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NO. 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING." WHEREAS, the Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" authorizes the expenditures of shared cash or proceeds forfeited for law enforcement purposes; and WHEREAS, the Police Department will be training its personnel in any area that is necessary to perform or support official law enforcement duties; and WHEREAS, funds will also be used for the payment of costs associated with said training, such as instructors, transportation, travel, books and supplies, training facilities, etc.; and WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690003, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as complying with the U.S. Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: C23rlr CCODWSION MEE?OF MAR 2 4 1998 Resolution Na 98- 296 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Funding for the Law Enforcement Training Trust Fund, in an amount not to exceed $60,000, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Number 690003, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the Department of Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing." Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of March , 1998. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Number 690003. BACKGROUND: The Miami Police Department will be utilizing these funds to train its personnel in any area that is necessary to perform or support official law enforcement duties.
