RESOLUTION NO. 9 8- 287
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE
U.S. SAILING CENTER, CONSISTING OF A
PLAYGROUND STRUCTURE FOR KENNEDY PARK VALUED
AT $12,000.37, FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
PARKS AND RECREATION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS,
IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO
ACCEPT SAID DONATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami acknowledges the U.S. Sailing
Center for its contribution and good will to the City's youth;
and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Sailing Center has identified the need for
a new playground structure at Kennedy Park; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Sailing Center has contacted the City
Parks and Recreation Department in order to identify the most
appropriate location and playground equipment for the designated
park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. A donation from the U.S. Sailing Center,
consisting of a playground structure for Kennedy Park valued at

$12,000.37, is hereby accepted for use by the Department of Parks
and Recreation.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized�l to
execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, to accept said donation.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the -attached resolution
accepting a donation of a playground structure for Kennedy Park. This donation is made
by the U.S. Sailing Center and it is valued at approximately $12,000.
BACKGROUND:
As required in their lease agreement with the City of Miami, representatives from the
U.S. Sailing Center contacted the City Parks and Recreation Department to coordinate the
donation of a playground structure for Kennedy Park. Meetings were held to determine
the location and identify the most appropriate playground equipment -for the designated
park. The value of the playground structure that was selected is calculated as follows:
