Home My WebLink AboutR-98-0253J-98-226 3/2/98 RESOLUTION NO.9 8" 253 A RESOLUTION, WITH ATTACHMENT (S), BY A FOUR - FIFTHS (4/5THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION, RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING OF EMERGENCY CIRCUMSTANCES AND AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF EXPENDITURES APPROVED PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 97-922, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000.00, FOR THE FURNISHING OF CITYWIDE LAWN EQUIPMENT AND REPLACEMENT PARTS FROM ELEVEN (11) VENDORS, AS MORE PARTICULARLY LISTED IN "EXHIBIT A", ATTACHED HERETO AND INCORPORATED HEREIN, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION, UTILIZING EXISTING DADE COUNTY CONTRACT NO. 5079-2/99-2, THEREBY INCREASING THE TOTAL ANNUAL AMOUNT FOR SAID EXPENDITURES FROM $50,000.00 $75,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR ACCOUNT CODE NO. 509000.420901.6.702. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 97-922, adopted December 12, 1996, the City Commission authorized the expenditures of $50,000.00 for the furnishing of Citywide lawn equipment and replacement parts from eleven (11) vendors (as more particularly listed in the attached "Exhibit A"), for the Department of General Services Administration, utilizing existing Dade County Contract No. 5079-2/99-2, for a one (1) year period with the option to renew on a year-to-year basis until April 30, 1999, subject to availability of funds; and ATTACHMENT (' l CONTAINED CITY COMOSSIOn MEETING OF MAR 1 Q IM Resolution No. 98- 253 WHEREAS, said service provides lawn equipment and replacement parts for the Heavy Equipment Facility, Lawn Maintenance Shop; and WHEREAS, an increase in the expenditures, in an amount not to exceed $25,000.00, is required to repair equipment used by Parks Operations and Public Works Right -of -Way Maintenance and other equipment due to the age of some of the City's fleet; and WHEREAS, the increased funding, in the amount of $25,000.00, is available from Account Code No. 509000.420901.6.702; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has determined that an emergency exists and has approved the increase in said expenditures set forth herein; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the members of the City Commission, the City Manager's finding of emergency circumstances and in authorizing an increase in the amount of expenditures, approved pursuant to Resolution No. 97-922, in an amount not to exceed $25,000.00, is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved, for the furnishing of Citywide lawn equipment and replacement parts from eleven (11) vendors, as more particularly listed in "Exhibit All, attached hereto and incorporated herein, for the Department of General Services - 2 - 98- 253 Administration, utilizing existing Dade County Contract No. 5079-2/99-2, thereby increasing the total annual amount for said expenditures from $50,000.00 to $75,000.00, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 509000.420901.6.702. Further authorizing the increase in contract award to eleven (11) vendors as listed on Exhibit "A" attached, from $50,000.00 to $75,000.00. Funds are available in the Department of General Services Administration, FY '98 Operating Budget, Account Code 509000.42090-1.6.702. BACKGROUND: This contract provides law equipment, and replacement parts for the Heavy Equipment Facility, Lawn Maintenance Shop. The requested increase was necessary to cover projected operating expenses which are attributed to maintaining and repairing equipment used by Parks Operations and Public Works Right -of -Way maintenance division.
