RESOLUTION NO. 9 8 229
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE POLICY THAT ALL
PROCLAMATIONS ISSUED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI
SHALL BE SIGNED BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE
COMMISSION; FURTHER PROVIDING THAT ANY MEMBER
OF THE CITY COMMISSION SHALL ALSO SIGN SAID
PROCLAMATIONS, IF THEY SO DESIRE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1 A policy is hereby established that all
proclamations ed b the City of Miami shall be signed by the
Chairman of theo s , and that any member of the City
Commission shall al ig ai roclamations, if they so desire.

Pursuant to the authority vested in me under the provisions of Section 4(g)(5) of the
Charter of Miami, Florida, I hereby veto:
RESOLUTION 98-229
Veto Message: Due to the fact that the position of Mayor is no longer vacant, and to
prevent any confusion that Resolution 98-229 might create in regards to ceremonial
protocol, I have respectfully chosen to veto the above resolution. It is in contradiction of
Section 4(g)(2) of the Charter of the City of Miami which states that, " He [the Mayor]
shall be recognized as the official head of the city for all ceremonial purposes. "
