RESOLUTION NO. J 8 - 63
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AND CONFIRMING THE
APPOINTMENT OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS TO SERVE
AS MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI AFFIRMATIVE
ACTION ADVISORY BOARD FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED
HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of the City of Miami Affirmative Action
Advisory Board, each member to serve a term as designated herein,
or until the nominating commissioner leaves office, whichever
occurs first:

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution
authorizing the appointment of nine (9) individuals and confirming the appointment of
three (3) individuals to serve on the Affirmative Action Advisory Board.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of Equal Opportunity/Diversity Programs respectfully requests of nine (9)
individuals to the Affirmative Action Advisory Board.
Chairman Humberto Hernandez has two (2) appointments; Vice -Chairman Arthur E.
Teele, Jr. Has two (2) appointments; Commissioner Wifredo Gort has two (2)
appointments; Commissioner J. L. Plummer, Jr. Has two (2) appointments and
Commissioner Tomas Regalado has one (1) appointment.
The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 420 desires to appoint Alberta (Tina) Duncan as
their representative; the Miami International Association of Firefighters, Local 587
desires to appoint Ruben Bargueiras, Jr. as their representative and the City Independent
Group Union desires to appoint Overton Brooks as their representative.
These appointments are in accordance with Ordinance 11130, Section 2428,
Membership on Boards.
