A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
ADMINISTRATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,500, FOR A
MARKETING AND FEASIBILITY STUDY TO ANALYZE THE RE -USE
OF BOBBY MADURO STADIUM TO SERVE AS A CATALYST FOR
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT; FURTHER, ALLOCATING THE REQUIRED
LOCAL MATCH, IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,500, FROM THE FY '98
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ACCOUNT, NO. 660101-270,
DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT, DIVISION OF
PLANNING.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 97-182 adopted March 20, 1997,
authorized the City Manager to sell the Bobby Maduro Stadium ("the Stadium"),
located at 2301 Northwest loth Ave., Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Stadium parcel is located in the heart of Miami's most
productive wholesale and industrial neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is interested in seeing the Stadium reused to
increase the economic base of the City and to that end the City has applied
for and received a grant from the United States Department of Commerce,
Economic Development Administration to commission a study to be performed by a
qualified consultant the most viable disposition strategies for the stadium;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as
if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a grant from
the United States Department of Commerce, in the amount of $13,500, for a
marketing and feasibility study to analyze the re -use of Bobby Maduro Stadium
to serve as a catalyst for economic development.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to allocate required
matching funds for this purpose, in the amount of $4,500, from the FY 198
Professional Services Account No. 660101-270, Department of Planning and
Development, Division of Planning.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.

ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a technical assistance grant from
the United States Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration,
in the amount of $13,500, with a local match of $4,500, from funds allocated in the
FY'98 budget, in the professional services account of the Development Division of the
Department of Development, Building and Zoning, totaling $18,000. The funds will
be used for a marketing and feasibility study to analyze the re -use of Bobby Maduro
Stadium to serve as a catalyst for economic development.
The Department of Development, Building and Zoning, Development Division, has
prepared the attached documentation to accept grant funds. Resolution No. 97-182
passed on March 20, 1997, authorized the City Manager to sell the Bobby Maduro
Stadium ("the Stadium"), located at 2301 Northwest 10th Ave., Miami, Florida.
Because the stadium parcel is located in the heart of Miami's most productive
wholesale and industrial neighborhood, it is necessary for the stadium property to
enhance the long term growth and economic base of the area. For this purpose, the
City has applied for and received a grant from the United States Department of
Commerce, Economic Development Administration to commission a study to be
performed by a qualified consultant for the purpose of fmding the most viable uses
and to establish a disposition strategy for the Stadium.
