HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-98-0026J-98-34 12/30/97 RESOLUTION NO. 9 8 26 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A LEGISLATIVE LINE ITEM GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $400,000 FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR RENOVATIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE FOLLOWING PARKS IN THE AMOUNT SPECIFIED HEREIN: $100,000 FOR SHENANDOAH PARK; $100,000 FOR JOSE MARTI PARK; $100,000 FOR DORSEY PARK: $100,000 FOR CLEMENTE PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AND IMPLEMENT THESE PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the 1997 Florida Legislature approved the funding of a legislative line item grant to the City of Miami for Shenandoah Park, Jose Marti Park, Dorsey Park and Clemente Park in the total amount of $400,000; and WHEREAS, said grant is for renovation and improvements $100,000 for Shenandoah Park, $100,000 for Jose Marti Park, $100,000 for Dorsey Park and $100,000 for Clemente Park; and WHEREAS, to make these funds available the City of Miami must accept said grant and execute the necessary documents to disburse the funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: oo MON semen ING OF 1 JAN 13 98 N . �8- 26 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A legislative line item grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in the amount of $400,000 to be used for renovations and improvements to the following parks in the amount specified herein: $100,000 for Shenandoah Park, $100,000 for Jose Marti Park, $100,000 for Dorsey Park and $100,000 for Clemente Park is hereby accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized) to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept this legislative line item grant and disburse said funds. Rollason Interim City Manager RECOMMENDATION CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM CAm30 DATE: JAN - '5 1,998 SUBJECT: Acceptance of DEP Legislative Grant/Park and Recreation REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: FILE It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a legislative line item grant in the amount of $400,000 from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection for renovations and improvements to the following parks in the amount specified herein: $100,000 for Shenandoah Park, $100,000 for Jose Marti Park, $100,000 for Dorsey Park and $100,000 for Clemente Park. This legislation would further authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with said agency for the disbursement of these funds . BACKGROUND The Parks and Recreation Department was awarded this legislative line item grant through a direct appropriation authorized by the 1997 Florida State Legislature. Each project will consist of $100,000 in improvements at Shenandoah, Jose Marti, Dorsey, and Clemente Parks as directed by the Legislation.
