AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE" AND APPROPRIATING $21,500 FOR THE OPERATION OF THE FUND, CONSISTING OF A DONATION FROM THE BLUE RIBBON TASK FORCE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID DONATION AND EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THIS PURPOSE; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the B,ue Ribbon Task Force contributed surplus funds which were raised by the private sector; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to accept this contribution; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to use the contributed funds to implement the Blue Ribbon Task Force recommendations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. 11653 Section 2. The following Special Revenue Fund is hereby established and resources to be appropriated as described herein: FUND TITLE: Blue Ribbon Task Force RESOURCES: Blue Ribbon Task Force $21,500 Donation APPROPRIATION: Implement Blue Ribbon $21,500 Task Force Recommendations Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized' to accept the donation from the Blue Ribbon Task Force and to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for this purpose. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 5. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance. shall not be affected. Section 6. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final reading and adoption thereof. PASSED ON FIRST READING BY TITLE ONLY this 14th day of April , 1998. This agenda item was originally approved by the Commission on April 14, 1998, on first reading, and is now being presented to you for approval on second reading. BACKGROUND:, The Blue Ribbon Task Force raised $62,500 from the private sector to support their assistance to the City of Miami. They would like to contribute the excess of revenues over expenditures, in the amount of $21,500, to the City for implementation of the Blue Ribbon Task Force recommendations. It is hereby requested that the City Manager be authorized to accept the contribution from the Blue Ribbon Task Force; execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, containing a repealer and severability clause, and that a Special Revenue Fund be established for such contribution.
