HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-11590J-97-791 11/18/97 ORDINANCE NO. 11590 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "FEMA/USAR GRANT AWARD (FY 196-97)" AND APPROPRIATING $76,500.00 TO SAID FUND; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL MANAGEMENT AGENCY ("FEMA") FOR EQUIPMENT, TRAINING, MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF TASK FORCE AFFAIRS AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") has approved a grant for the City of Miami in the amount of $76,500.00; and WHEREAS, said grant funds will be used by the Department. of Fire -Rescue for the purchase of specialized equipment, training, management and administration of task force affairs in accordance with accepted standard business practices; and WHEREAS, it is now appropriate to accept the grant, execute the necessary documents, establish a special revenue fund and appropriate said grant funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: 11590 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is hereby established and resources are hereby appropriated as described herein: FUND TITLE: FEMA/USAR GRANT AWARD (FY '96-97) RESOURCES: Federal Emergency Management $76,500.00 Agency ("FEMA") APPROPRIATION: Federal Emergency Management $76,500.00 Agency ("FEMA") Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized1/ to accept the aforementioned grant for the purchase of specialized equipment, training, management and administration of task force affairs, and to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to implement acceptance of said grant. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. 1/ The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. - 2 - ji590 Section 5. If any section, part of section, paragraph., clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 6. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final reading and adoption thereof.
