Approval of Permits for
Calle Ocho festival.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution which
establishes City Commission approval requirement for obtaining permits for the Calle Ocho
Festival presented by the Kiwanis of Little Havana prior to the event commencement date.
BACKGROUND:
Due to numerous complaints from the business community, the City Commission requested that the
Administration prepare legislation requiring City Commission approval prior to obtaining the
necessary permits for all future annual "Calle Ocho" events presented by the Kiwanis Club of Little
Havana and held in the Little Havana neighborhood.
This legislation was introduced on the consent agenda at the regular City Commission Meeting of
April 14, 1998 and deferred for consideration until the April 28, 1998 Commission meeting.
