DEAR MR. PEDROSA:

Brothers Of The Same Mind would like to be put on the agenda for February
10, 1998.
Due to the funds that will be allocated to the City of Miami Police Department
to hire more officers.
As you know crime has gone down every year for the pass (6) years in the City
of Miami. We would like to know why we as a community need more Polices.
Also, why the city can always find money to hire more Polices but can not find
the resources to help our disadvantaged people.
Sincercly,
Ler y Jones Spokesmen

Please be advised that I have been provided with a copy of your letter to City Manager Jose Garcia
Pedrosa regarding the hiring of additional police officers and the decrease in crime in the City of
Miami.
Although I am quite pleased by the crime decrease in our City, I am committed to continuing our ,
present efforts to hire as many officers as possible in order to enhance our efforts to further
decrease crime and increase police visibility.
I would like to point out that the money being utilized for the salary of the officers being hired is
federal grant money. In addition, these grants do not require a match with City general funds and
are, therefore, at no expense to the residents of this City.
Should you have any further questions regarding the grants the City of Miami has received
recently, please feel free to contact Assistant Chief Raymond A. Martinez at 579-6573.
Sincerely,
/0%.
