HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0936J-99-1068 12/14/99 RESOLUTION NO. �� 9 — 9 36 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM KEEP FLORIDA BEAUTIFUL, INC., A NONPROFIT PUBLIC EDUCATION ORGANIZATION AWARDED TO THE OVERTOWN COMMUNTIY FOR ITS CLEAN-UP CAMPAIGN FOCUSED ON LITTER, IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF SAID GRANT; FURTHER ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND, ENTITLED KEEP FLORIDA BEAUTIFUL. WHEREAS, the Keep Florida Beautiful, Inc., is a non-profit public education organization dedicated to improving waste handling, environmental issues and practices in communities; and WHEREAS, the community and the Overtown Neighborhood Enhancement Team ("NET") participated in the Sixth Annual Keep Florida Beautiful, Inc. Campaign, winning the 1999 Largest Urban Neighborhood Clean Up Award and a $2,500 grant for the Overtown community; and WHEREAS, award monies will be used to assist further clean- up activities in the Overtown, community; and CITY COMuSSION WEE TIrJ G OF DEC 1 4 ^171t RusoluliQu No. -11 ¢1 c e./ c.D I WHEREAS, it is now appropriate for the City Manager to accept said grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a grant from Keep Florida Beautiful, Inc., a nonprofit public education organization awarded to the Overtown Community for its clean-up campaign focused on litter, in the amount of $2,500, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Special Revenue Fund, entitled Keep Florida Beautiful. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized" to execute the necessary document (s), in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept said grant. 11 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. l 9 Page 2 of 3 Section 4. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission. These funds were awarded to the Overtown Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) for winning the 1999 Largest Urban Neighborhood Clean Up Award.
