WHEREAS, the Department of Fire Rescue requires the purchase of one hydraulic cutter and ram, more commonly known as the "Jaws of Life"; and WHEREAS, this equipment is used to extricate victims who are entrapped in motor vehicles or by heavy debris, building materials, and other refuse; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitations for Bid. No.98-99-161 were mailed to 30 potential providers of My OOMNIISSION MEETIIiG OF D E C 1 4 1999 hesolution No. 99 - 924 said equipment; and WHEREAS, two (2) bids were received on September 27, 1999; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire Rescue recommend that the bid received from Burgess & Associates, Inc., d/b/a Hot Zone, USA, for the procurement of a hydraulic cutter and ram, be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; and WHEREAS, funding is available from Capital Improvement Project No. 313304, Account Code No. 289401.6.850, funded by the Fire Rescue Assessment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received on April 18, 1999, from Burgess & Associates, Inc., d/b/a Hot Zone, USA, for the provision of a hydraulic cutter and ram, in an amount not to - 2 - 99-- 024 exceed $6,997, for the Department of Fire Rescue, is hereby accepted; with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 313304, Account Code No. 289401.6.850, funded by the Fire Rescue Assessment.
