A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A
GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION
DISTRICT ("FIND") IN THE AMOUNT OF $196,086
FOR THE MARGARET PACE PARK PUBLIC WATERFRONT
ENHANCEMENT PROJECT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS (S), IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE
CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 99-294 adopted on April 27, 1999,
authorized the City Manager to submit an application to the
Florida Inland Navigation District ("FIND") pursuant to its
Waterways Assistance Program, for funding for the proposed
shoreline enhancements known as the Margaret Pace Park Public
Waterfront Enhancement Project; and
WHEREAS, on September 22, 1999, FIND awarded $196,086 for
the Margaret Pace Park Public Waterfront Enhancement Project; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the

Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The grant from Florida Inland Navigation
District ("FIND") in the amount of $196,086 for the Margaret Pace
Park Public Waterfront Enhancement Project, is hereby accepted.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized!' to
execute all the necessary document (s), in a form acceptable to
the City Attorney, to accept said grant and to implement the
proj ect .
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective

all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney,
including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.

effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by
the City Commission.

RECOMMMATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission
adopt the attached Resolution accepting a grant from the
Florida Inland Navigation District (F.I.N.D.) in the amount
Of $196,086 for the Margaret Pace Park Public Waterfront
Enhancement Project. The Resolution further authorizes the
City Manager to execute the necessary agreement to accept
said grant and to implement said project.
BACKGROUND:
The -Department of Parks and Recreation has prepared the
attached legislation concerning the acceptance of this grant
awarded by the Florida Inland Navigation District
(11F.I.N.D.11) .
On April 27, 1.999, the City of Miami Commission adopted
Resolution No. 99-294 authorizing the submittal of
application to F.I.N.D., under its Waterways Assistance
Program, for funding the proposed Margaret Pace Park Public
Waterfront Enhancement Project.
The Margaret Pace Park Public Waterfront Enhancement Project
includes the stabilization of 700 linear feet of shoreline,
removal of exotic vegetation, new landscaping and the
construction of a paved overlook/plaza.
On October 7, 1999, the Florida Inland Navigation District
notified the City of Miami of the award for said project in
the amount of $196,086 for Margaret Pace Park (see attached
letter). This grant has matching requirements that are
being met by funds allocated for this park from the Safe
Neigh r1 ood Parks Bond Program.
