HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0850J-99-913 10/29/99 RESOLUTION NO.9 9 w 8 5 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT' ("FIND") IN THE AMOUNT OF $180,000 FOR THE KENNETH MYERS PARK "SEMINOLE" PUBLIC BOAT RAMP AND LAUNCHING FACILITY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS(S), IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 99-293 adopted on April 27, 1999, authorized the City Manager to submit an application to the Florida Inland Navigation District ("FIND") pursuant to its Waterways Assistance Program, for funding the proposed shoreline enhancements known as the Kenneth Myers Park "Seminole" Public Boat Ramp and Launching Facility Project; and WHEREAS, on September 22, 1999, FIND awarded $180,000 for the Kenneth Myers Park Boat Ramp Project; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the CITY COMUSSION NEETINc OF NOV 1 6 1999 iia.cluiion No. 99- 850 (2) Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The grant from Florida Inland Navigation District ("FIND") in the amount of $180,000 for the Kenneth Myers Park "Seminole" Public Boat Ramp and Launching Facility, is hereby accepted. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized!' to execute all the necessary document(s), in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to accept said grant and to implement the project. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective '-� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. - 2 - 99- 850 �� immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission. - 3 - 99-- $15U CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA CA= 10 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor -and Members of the City Commission FROM: City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DATE FILE: SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting Grant for Kenneth Myers Park REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting a grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District (F.I.N.D.) in the amount of $180,000 for the Kenneth Myers Park "Seminole" Public Boat Ramp and Launching Facility. The Resolution further authorizes the City Manager to execute the necessary agreement to accept said grant and to implement said project. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks and Recreation has prepared the attached legislation concerning the acceptance of this grant awarded by the Florida Inland Navigation District ("F.I.N.D. ") . On April 27, 1999, the City of Miami Commission adopted Resolution No. 99-293 authorizing the submittal. of application to F.I.N.D., under its Waterways Assistance Program, for funding the proposed Kenneth Myers Park "Seminole" Public Boat Ramp and Launching Facility Project. The Kenneth Myers Park "Seminole" Public Boat Ramp and Launching Facility Project includes increased parking for cars with boat trailers, new asphalt paving and stripping of the existing parking area, new lighting, repair of the existing finger pier, improved storm drainage system and new landscaping. On October 7, 1999, the Florida Inland Navigation District notified the City of Miami of the award for said project in the amount of $180,000 for Kenneth Myers Park. (see attached letter). This grant has matching requirements that are being met by funds allocated for this park from the Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Program.
