WHEREAS, the carpet at the Solid Waste Department administration building is 20 years old and in poor condition; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 98-99-188 were mailed to potential bidders; and WHEREAS, five (5) bids were received on October 25, 1999; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Capital Improvement Project No. 353015.329401.6.860; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Solid Waste recommend that the bid received from The Carpet CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NMI 1 6 1999 Hovoludon No. 49_' 847 Boutique, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid -received on October 25, 1999, from The Carpet Boutique, Inc for the procurement and installation of 436 square yards of carpet under Bid No. 98-99-188 for the Department of Solid Waste, at a total amount not to exceed $9,300, is hereby approved; with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 353015.6.329401.6.860. Funding is available from CIF Project No. 353015.329401.6.860. BACKGROUND: The Department of Solid Waste has a need to replace 436 square yards of old carpeting and 760 lineal feet of baseboards in its administrative building. The existing carpeting has been in the building since construction which is approximately 20 years old. This area is heavily traversed and due to the worn and stained condition of existing carpet, this purchase is necessary. Additionally, new carpeting would enhance the aesthetics of the building as well as promote a healthier environment for employees assigned to work in this facility.
