HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0844J-99-914 1111199 RESOLUTION NO. 997 844 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MBL PAVING UTILIZING BID PRICES IN INVITATION FOR BID NO. 97-98-183, FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ASPHALT WALKWAYS AT KENNEDY AND MORNINGSIDE PARKS, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED $25,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NOS. 331313 AND 333112. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, through community feedback, has determined a need for asphalt walkways in Morningside and Kennedy Parks; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 98-1096 adopted on November 17, 1999, accepted the bid of asphalt paving from MBL Paving at Kennedy and Morningside Parks pursuant to Invitations for Bid No. 97-98-183; and WHEREAS, MBL Paving has agreed to the provision and installation of additional asphalt paving under the same terms and conditions; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Capital Improvement CITY COMUSS102f MEETAING OF MTV 1 6 1999 Resolution No. 99- 844 :.; Projects No. 331313, and 333112, Account Code No. 569305-860; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid received from MPL Paving, utilizing bid prices from Invitation for Bids No. 97-98-183, for the provision and installation of additional asphalt walkways at Morningside and Kennedy Parks, for the Department of Parks and Recreation, at a total cost not to exceed $25,000, is hereby accepted, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Projects No. 331313, and 333112, Account Code No. 589305-860. Warshaw City Manager RECOMMENDATION: CA-3 DATE: NOV 2 I999 FILE SUBJECT: Resolution Award for Asphalt Paving at Kennedy and Morningside Parks REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution accepting the bid from M.B.L. Paving located at 1751 N.W. 110 Avenue, Miami, Florida, 33172, a Hispanic/Miami-Dade firm, in an amount not to exceed $13,000 for the installation of asphalt paving at Morningside Park and in an amount not to exceed $12,000 for the installation of asphalt paving at Kennedy Park. These improvements are to be funded from Safe Neighborhood Park Bond Funds appropriated for this purpose in Capital Improvement Projects No. 331313, Account Code 589305-860; and No. 333112, Account Code 589305-860. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks and Recreation has obtained community input as to the needs of Kennedy and Morningside parks through various meetings with neighborhood residents. Among the items to be determined of great need was the paving of asphalt walkways throughout the parks. Pursuant to public notice, two (2) bids were previously received in November, 1998 for the installation of asphalt paving at these locations. Award of bid was made to M.B.L. Paving which submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid. The Department of Parks and Recreation has seen a need to install additional asphalt paving at these parks, utilizing bid prices received pursuant to Bid No. 97-98--183.
