A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
SUNSETTING THE OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE EQUITY
STUDY COMMISSION ESTABLISHED BY
RESOLUTION NO. 98-856, AND EXPRESSING TO THE
MEMBERS OF SAID COMMISSION THE CITY
COMMISSION'S APPRECIATION FOR THEIR
COMMITMENT AND SERVICE TO THE CITY; FURTHER
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY
OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE MEMBERS OF THE
OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE EQUITY STUDY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 98-856, adopted
September 8, 1998, the City Commission established the
Occupational License Equity Study Commission (the "Study
Commission") for the purpose of recommending changes to the City
of Miami Occupational License Tax Rates in accordance with
Chapter 205, Florida Statutes; and
WHEREAS, after numerous meetings, the Study Commission
presented its report to the Administration, and on September 28,
1999, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 11825, which
incorporated many of"the Study Commission's recommendations; and
WHEREAS, having completed its tasks and goals, it is no
longer necessary for the Study Commission to convene; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to express its
appreciation on behalf of the citizens of the City of Miami to

the members of the Study Commission for their commitment and
service to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Occupational License Equity Study
Commission established pursuant to Resolution No. 98-856, adopted
September 8, 1998, is hereby sunsetted.
Section 3. The City Commission hereby expresses to the
members of the Occupational License Equity Study Commission its
appreciation for their commitment and service to the City.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit
a copy of this Resolution to the members of the Occupational
License Equity Study Commission.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective

immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor."

Resolution
The Occupational License Tax Equity Commission was established on September 8, 1998 to
recommend changes to the Occupational License Tax Rates in accordance with Chapter 205,
Florida Statutes. Bertha Henry, Assistant City Manager/Liaison to said board, advised us that said
Commission has completed its activities and that pursuant to the statute, the board cannot meet
again until 2001.
It is in order now that the City Commission pass the attached resolution sunsetting said board.

A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE
EQUITY STUDY COMMISSION ("COMMISSION") FOR THE PURPOSE
OF RECOMMENDING CHANGES TO THE OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE
TAX RATES IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 205, FLORIDA
STATUTES.
WHEREAS, Florida Statute, Chapter 205, regulates the levying of
municipal occupational license taxes; and
WHEREAS, the Statutes provide for a reclassification of license
categories and an increase of up to ten percent (10t) in license tax; and
WHEREAS, the Statutes require the establishment of a COMmission whose
members must be representative of the business community to make
recommendations for said increase; and
WHEREAS, 'Section 2-883 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended (the "Code"), sets forth the requirements for the creation of boards,
which may only be established by Ordinance and under certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, pursuant to Section 2-882 of the Code may
create a citizen's groups for specific advisory purposes where such groups
existence is limited to a period of less than one year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMI-SSiON OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
