A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO
THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH THE CLERIC OF THE
COURTS TO USE THE MANAGEMENT RESOURCES OF
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO REVIEW THE LEGISLATIVE
OPTIONS FOR THE MERGER OF SERVICES, EXCEPT
FOR RESCUE SERVICES, PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF
MIAMI FIRE -RESCUE DEPARTMENT WITH THE MIAMI-
DADE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT; ALLOCATING
ASSOCIATED INITIAL COSTS THEREFOR FROM BUDGET
RESERVES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR SAID
PURPOSE, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE
GOVERNOR'S EMERGENCY FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT
BOARD.
WHEREAS, significant cost savings may be realized by
coordinating all but the rescue services provided by the City of
Miami Department of Fire -Rescue with the Metro -Dade Fire
Department; and
WHEREAS, said cost savings are viable so long as the
services provided to the City of Miamicitizensare maintained
and improved; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the
City of Miami that the City Commission consider its options,
including the effect on employee agreements, related to the

provision of fire services in the City of Miami by the Miami -Dade
Fire Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby instructedil to
enter into an interlocal agreement, in a form acceptable to the
City Attorney, with the Clerk of the Courts to use the management
resources of Miami -Dade County to review the legislative options`
for the merger of services, except for Rescue Services, provided
by the City of Miami Fire -Rescue Department with the Miami -Dade
County Fire Department, with the initial associated costs
therefor hereby allocated from budget reserves of the City of
Miami for said purpose, subject to approval by the Governor's
Emergency Financial Oversight Board.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective

but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become
effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by
the City Commission.
