RESOLUTION NO.q�' Id A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH A NOTICE IN A NEWSPAPER(S) OF GENERAL CIRCULATION IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AND ANY OTHER PUBLICATIONS AS DETERMINED BY THE CITY CLERK, IDENTIFYING THE PROVIDERS WHO HAVE EXECUTED COMMERCIAL SOLID WASTE FRANCHISE AGREEMENTS WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI, SAID NOTICE TO BE PUBLISHED TWO TIMES PER WEEK FOR TWO WEEKS; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF MEDIA RELATIONS TO BROADCAST INFORMATIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS ON NET 9 AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH MONTH TO IDENTIFY SAID PROVIDERS. WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 11837, adopted by the City Commission on September 28, 1999, provisions regulating commercial solid waste haulers were established; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 99-720, adopted by the City Commission on September 28, 1999, the Director of the Department of Solid Waste's selection of commercial solid waste haulers was approved, and the City Manager was authorized to enter into franchise agreements with the providers selected for commercial solid waste hauling; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission that commercial property owners in the City of Miami be informed as to which providers they may engage for commercial waste hauling; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY cm cf3hhtiII si©x MEETING OF f1 C T i `,�, '399 hesolution lVo. L OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish a notice in a newspaper(s) of general circulation in the City of Miami, Florida, and any other publications as determined by the City Clerk, identifying the providers who have executed Commercial Solid Waste Franchise Agreements with the City of Miami, said notice to be published two times per week for two weeks, and shall be in substantially the form set forth herein: "Every commercial property shall be required to use services for solid waste collection from only the following list of franchisees (in alphabetical order), pursuant to City Code Section 22-2: 1. 2. 3. 4. S. 6. Commercial property owners must exhibit evidence of payment of services for solid waste collection. Failure to comply will subject the commercial property owner to the penalties set forth in City Code Section: 22-93." Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to instruct the Director of the Office of Media Relations to - 2 - 1y , broadcast informational announcements on NET 9 at the beginning of each month to identify said providers. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of October 1999.
