A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ACCEPTING A DONATION, WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE
OF $25,000, FROM DADE AMATEUR GOLF
ASSOCIATION TO BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF
PARKS AND RECREATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF
FURNISHINGS AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF
PROGRAMS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, AS
THE BENEFICIARY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GOLF
CLASSIC HELD ON JUNE 25, 1999.
WHEREAS, the Dade Amateur Golf Association wishes to donate
$25,000 proceeds raised from the City of Miami Golf Classic held
on June 25, 1999 to the Department of Parks and Recreation's
Programs for Disabilities to be used for the purchase of
furnishings and the implementation of programs at the new
building to be constructed at Kinloch Park; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation's Programs
for Persons with Disabilities Division, provides a highly
successful year-round program for children and adults throughout
the City with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, a fully accessible 5,270 square foot building will
soon be constructed at Kinloch Park for the Division of

Disabilities Division staff and its programs; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. A donation, with an estimated value of
$25,000, from Dade Amateur Golf Association to be used by the
Department of Parks and Recreation for the purchase of
furnishings and the implementation of Programs for Persons with
Disabilities at Kinloch Park as the beneficiary of the City of
Miami Golf Classic held on June 25, 1999, is hereby accepted.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective

immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'-�

effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by
the City Commission.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
accepting a donation at an estimated value of $25,000.00 from Dade Amateur Golf
Association (DAGA), for the Department of Parks and Recreation's Programs for Persons
with Disabilities, as the beneficiary of the City of Miami Golf Classic held on Friday,
June 25, 1999.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department, Programs for Persons with
Disabilities Division provides a highly successful year round program for children and
adults with varying disabilities. The Division will soon be housed at a frilly accessible
new 5,270 square foot building to be constructed at Kinlock Park. As in the past Dade
Amateur Golf Association (DAGA) sponsors the City of Miami Golf Classic which was
held this ,year on June 25, 1999 to benefit the Division's programs. As a result of this
benefit golf tournament, DAGA is donating $25,000 to the Division to be used as
follows:
• To provide furnishings for the Division's fully accessible Center at Kinloch Park.
• To enable program participants with disabilities to receive independent living skills
training.
• To enable participants with disabilities to socialize and receive instruction in the arts
and various therapeutic recreation activities.
• To enable program participants to enhance their lives and open doors to opportunities.
