HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-06411 i J-99-727 9j1f99 RESOLUTION NO. 2 d) - 641 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RELATING TO A PROFESSIONAL SOCCER GAME BETWEEN COLOMBIA AND TRINIDAD, PRESENTED BY INTERFOREVER SPORTS, INC., HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1999 AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM AND AUTHORIZING A CAP ON THE USER FEE OF $7,500 FOR SAID EVENT, FURTHER CONDITIONING SAID AUTHORIZATION HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT, OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE, AND COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The fee for the use of the Orange Bowl Stadium for the presentation of a professional soccer game between Colombia and Trinidad sponsored by Interforever Sports, Inc., on September 8, 1999, is hereby authorized to be capped at $7,500. Section 2. TO: The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission i jja�y (�y( FROM onald 1 saw /f-91 City Manager CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA =16 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE : AUG 2 4 1999 FILE: SUBJECT: Resolution Establishing a Cap on Use Fee for Orange Bowl Stadium for Professional Soccer Game REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing a cap of $7,500 as the Use Fee for a professional soccer match to be held at the Orange Bowl Stadium on September 8, 1999. BACKGROUND: The Department of Conferences. Conventions and Public Facilities recommends that the Use Fee foi the presentation of a professional soccer game between Colombia and Trinidad be capped at $7,500. In order to secure this event, the organizers requested that the Use Fee cap be presented to the City Commission for approval. As there was no City Commission meeting in August, it was not possible to consider their request prior to the game. In the event that this cap is not approved by the City Commission, the Basic Use Fee shall be the greater of $5,000 or ten (10%) of gross admission - price. In the past, Interforever Sports, Inc. has presented successful professional soccer matches at the Orange Bowl Stadium. The City will receive a Ticket Surcharge and retain all revenues from food and beverages and parking, in addition to the Use Fee. The event organizers will pay for all the necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with the event. This event is expected to produce net.revenues to the City in excess of $35,000. 11: R DHW CPAIyp W
