A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A VEHICLE LOCATION
SYSTEM FROM TELETRAC, INC., AWARDED UTILIZING
EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA SNAPS AGREEMENT
NO. 9911506, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF SOLID
WASTE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $53,000.00;
WITH FUNDS THEREFOR HEREBY ALLOCATED FROM
ACCOUNT CODE NO. 422001.320102.6.840.
WHEREAS, the Department of Solid Waste requires a vehicle
location system that has the ability to locate any vehicle in the
fleet at any time throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the capability of an automatic vehicle location
system with its fleet management software and data communication
would improve the department's deployment of personnel and
equipment citywide; and
WHEREAS, funds are available from Account Code
No. 422001.320102.6.840; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of Solid Waste
recommend that the purchase of a vehicle location system from

Agreement No. 9911506, be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The purchase of a vehicle location system
from Teletrac, Inc., awarded utilizing existing State of Florida
SNAPS Agreement No. 9911506, for the Department of Solid Waste,
is hereby approved, in an amount not to exceed $53,000.00; with
funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code
No. 422001.320102.6.840.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor Y

ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve
the attached resolution, authorizing the City Manager to approve
the procurement of a Vehicle Location System under an existing
State of Florida SNAPS Bid n9911506 from Teletrac, Inc., in an
amount not to exceed $53,000. Funding is available from Account
Code No. 422001.320102.6.840.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Solid Waste in its continuing effort to improve
upon the efficiency and productivity of the department seeks to
purchase a Vehicle Location System. This systern would provide
software and hardware for heavy equipment fleet location.
Specifically, the system allows for (Automatic vehicle location
products and services; Fleet management software (Fleet Director
Enterprise Edition Proprietary Software) and Data communication
products and services (status messaging and message display
terminals).
Additionally, this system would aIlow for improved time
management relative to overall manpower and equipment deployment
city wide.

In our continuing effort to improve upon the efficiency and productivity of the
Department of Solid Waste, my staff and 1 have met with a representative from
Teletrac, Inc. which is a company that provides software programs and hardware
for heavy equipment fleet location. Subsequently, we forwarded the information
for purchase, under the State's SNAPS Program, to Procurement for review and
approval to proceed (see attached).
Also attached, please find a Request for Formal Solicitation, which requires the
City Manager's approval to solicit formal bids for the purchase of a vehicle
location system. Specifically, this systems has the following capabilities:
• Automatic vehicle location products and services
• Fleet Management Software (Fleet Director Enterprise Edition
Proprietory Software)
• Data communication products and services (status messaging and
message display terminals)

REASON: The Department of Solid Waste in Its continuing
