Home My WebLink AboutR-99-0605J-99-276 8/2/99 RESOLUTION NO. 9 9 6 0.5 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RELATED TO THE THIRD ANNUAL "FET CHAMPET" HAITIAN FESTIVAL, SPONSORED BY OPERATION GREEN LEAVES, TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 28, 1999, AT EARTH 'N' US, LOCATED AT 7630 NORTHEAST FIRST AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE IN -KIND SERVICES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3,500, WHICH SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, THE USE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION'S STAGE AND SOUND EQUIPMENT FOR SAID EVENT; SAID AUTHORIZATION CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS: (1) PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID .EVENT; (2) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE; AND (3) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE. WHEREAS, Operation Green Leaves will conduct the Third Annual "Fet Champet" Haitian Festival, a celebration of the earth and its natural environment, to be held on August 28, 1999, at Earth 'N' Us, located at 7630 Northeast First Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, the festival invites the community to participate in activities which include Haitian music, art and cultural events; and WHEREAS,. Operation Green Leaves will obtain all required CITY C®SSION MEETING OF AUG G 2 1999 Resolution No. 99- 6.05 permits and insurance for said festival; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in, this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to provide in -kind services in an amount not to exceed $3,500, which shall include, but not be limited to, the use of the Department of Parks and Recreation's stage and sound equipment for the Third Annual "Fet Champet" Haitian Festival, sponsored by Operation Green Leaves, to be held on Saturday, August 28, 1999, at Earth 'N' Us, located at 7630 Northeast First Avenue, Miami, Florida. Section 3. The herein authorization is hereby conditioned upon the organizers: (1) paying for all other necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event; (2) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee; and (3) complying with all conditions and, limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective - 2 - 99- 60-5 s immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/ PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of August , 1999.
