RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO IMMEDIATELY
FORMULATE A VOUCHER SYSTEM TO ASSIST 240
FAMILIES CURRENTLY LIVING IN MODEL CITY IN
THE VICINITY OF NORTHWEST 15THAVENUE FROM 59T11
THROUGH 62ND STREETS, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AND TO
WORK WITH THE CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION AND
U.S. HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD)
OFFICIALS IN THE DEVELOPMENT, AUTHORIZATION
AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A VOUCHER SYSTEM;
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO CREATE AND
MAINTAIN AN IDENTIFICATION LIST OF CURRENT
M^' RESIDENTS AND THOSE RESIDENTS WHO RESIDED IN
THE AREA WITHIN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, IN
ORDER TO PROVIDE PRIORITY CONSIDERATION AS IT
RELATES TO THE RELOCATION OF SAID RESIDENTS
TO HOUSING AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE AND TO
FACILITATE WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID
VOUCHER SYSTEM OR OTHER RELIEF.
WHEREAS, a need exists to relocate almost 240 families
living in substandard housing conditions in Model City in and
around Northwest 15th Avenue from 59t'' Street through 62nd Street;

WHEREAS, the City of Miami is committed to assisting these
needy residents in finding suitable living conditions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE

CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2-. The City Manager is hereby directed to
immediately formulate a voucher system to assist 240 families
currently living in Model City in the vicinity of Northwest 15th
Avenue from 59th Street through 62nd Street, Miami, Florida, and
to work with the Congressional Delegation and U.S. Housing and
Urban Development officials in the development, authorization and
implementation of a voucher system.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to create
and maintain an identification list of current residents and
those residents who resided in the area within the last several
years, in order to provide priority consideration as it relates
to the relocation of said residents to housing as it becomes
available and to facilitate with the implementation of said.

effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was
passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by
the City Commission.
