A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI PARKS AND RECREATION SUMMER PROGRAM FIELD TRIPS, AND ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $12,460, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROJECT NUMBERS 690001, 690002, AND 690003, SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO EQUITABLE SHARING," AND FLORIDA STATE STATUTES, CHAPTER 932.7055, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended, authorize the expenditure of shared cash or proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and WHEREAS, the Police Department is committed to the education and development of the youth of the community; and WHEREAS, City of Miami Parks and Recreation Summer Program gives needy children the opportunity to participate in the activities sponsored by the City of Miami Summer Program Field Trips; and WHEREAS, funds to cover this expenditure have not been included in the Police Department's normal operating budget and CITY COI+ USSION MEETING OF J U !_ 13 1999 Resolution No. 99- 476 I are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this Resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with the U. S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Florida State Statutes 932.7055, as amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The funding for the City of Miami Summer Program Field Trips, is hereby authorized, with funds therefor, in the amount not to exceed $12,4.60, hereby allocated from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001, 690002, and 690003, such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as complying with the U. S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Florida State Statutes, Chapter 932.7055, as amended. Section 3. Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, from Project Numbers 690001, 690002 and 690003. BACKGROUND The Miami Police Department supports the Department of Parks and Recreation, in their efforts to provide financial assistance to needy underprivileged children who cannot afford these field trips due to financial difficulties.
