INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 42
DATE May 17, 1999
BILE
SUBJECT. Committee on Beautification and
Environment
REFERENCES, June 8, 1999 Agenda
ENCLOSURES:
City Cler List of Members, Resolution
The Committee on Beautification and Environment was created to encourage and to
participate in projects that will enhance the natural beauty and ecological quality of Greater
Miami.
This committee consists of up to 50 official members, which the Commission appoints.
Traditionally, the Commission has accepted a slate of nominees proffered by the committee
Chairperson. The Chairperson of the committee, Mr. Stephen D. Pearson, has submitted the slate
of nominees the board wishes to have reappointed (copy attached). The names crossed out are
individuals who are current members, but are not being resubmitted for reappointment.
Some of the members being recommended for appointment also need a waiver of the residency
requirement contained in Section 2-884 of the Code, by four -fifths vote of the membership of the
Commission. In the past, the Commission has granted a blanket waiver for these members.
By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the City Manager place this issue on the
June 8, 1999 agenda.

Re: City of Miami Committee on Beautification of Environment
Dear Mr. Foeman:
Enclosed is a proposed slate of the members of the City of Miami Committee on Beautification
and Environment that is being submitted as suggested appointments by the City Commission.
I apologize that I was unable to provide you with this information sooner, but I have had some
significant health problems during the last eight months that have caused me to have to curtail
some of my activities. However, as you will see in our annual report, this Committee is still
accomplishing some major projects that benefit our City and we will strive to continue to do so.
Please call me if you have any questions or comments about the enclosures or anything else with
respect to the Committee at this time.
Very truly yours,
Stephen D. Pearson
