J-99-588 6/22/99 RESOLUTION NO. 9 J r 455 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING A DONATION, VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $6,100.00, FROM JOSE ALVAREZ, VICTOR ALBA, HISPANIOLA TRAVEL & SERVICES, INC., AND THE ASOCIACION COMUNAL DOMINICANA, OF A BUST HONORING JUAN PABLO DUARTE, A PLAQUE AFFIXED ON OR ABOUT SAID BUST, WORDED IN BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH, OUTLINING JUAN PABLO DUARTE'S HISTORICAL CONTRIBUTIONS, AND RELATED SITE IMPROVEMENTS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, FENCING, LANDSCAPING, AND BENCHES, TO BE PLACED IN AND ABOUT A CITY -OWNED BUILDING LOCATED IN JUAN PABLO DUARTE PARK AT 2800 NORTHWEST 17T" AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, Jose Alvarez, Victor Alba, Hispaniola Travel & Services, Inc.., and the Asociacion Comunal Dominicana (the "Donators") wish to donate a bust in honor of Juan Pablo Duarte to be placed in a City -owned building located in Juan Pablo Duarte Park at 2800 Northwest 17`" Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, said building, which is octagonal shaped and measures approximately 120 square feet, is not presently utilized by the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, the Donators also wish to provide site improvements, such as fencing, landscaping, and benches at said location; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to accept said bust and improvements, contingent upon the Donators affixing a plaque on I BME n� N JUN 2 2 1999 aftwutton No. 9�_455 or about said bust, worded in both English and Spanish, outlining Juan Pablo Duarte's historical contributions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A donation, valued at approximately $6,100.00, from Jose Alvarez, Victor Alba, Hispaniola Travel & Services, Inc., and the Asociacion Comunal Dominicana, of a bust honoring Juan Pablo Duarte, a plaque affixed on or about said bust, worded in both English and Spanish, outlining Juan Pablo Duarte's historical contributions, and related site improvements, including but not limited to, fencing, landscaping, and benches, are hereby accepted to be placed in and about a City -owned building located in Juan Pablo Duarte Park at 2800 Northwest 17`h Avenue, Miami, Florida. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective 2 - 99- 455 a immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.!/ PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of June , 1999.
