FLORIDA 40 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM DATE May 19, 1999 SUBJECT Citywide Community Development Advisory Board REFERENCES : June 8, 1999 Agenda ENCLOSURES List of Members, Resolution The Citwvide Community Development Advisory Board was created to advise the City Commission on community development and housing needs. The board will be responsible for providing a leadership role in encouraging target area -wide resident participation in the citywide grant process as follows: (1) Promoting interest in grant activities in the target areas; (2) Providing residents with an opportunity to discuss community concerns and related issues; (3) Providing an opportunity for City residents to identify community needs; (4) Facilitating two-way communication with government representatives and target area residents, and assisting the City in communicating its program services and benefits to residents; (5) Recommending priorities for community improvements; (6) Reviewing the progress of community improvement activities; and (7) Conducting public meetings. All eighteen (18) members' terms have expired. • Each member of the Commission has hvo nominations to make for appointment. • The Commission at -large is also requested to confirm the election of Juanda Geniece Ferguson for Model City target area. There are eight members who are elected to represent target areas, whose terms have all expired. The Department of Community Development has held elections for Model City and Overtown. We have received election results for Model City only. As soon as our office receives the results for Overtown, we will promptly schedule confirmation of same. The remaining target areas (Allapattah, Coconut Grove, Downtown, Edison/Little River, Little Havana and Wynwood) still need to have elections for members to the Citywide Community Development Advisory Board. The current members continue to serve until replaced. For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership to said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the June 8, 1999 Commission agenda. WJF:sI c: Maria J.
