HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0419J-99-525 6/14/99 RESOLUTION NO. 9 9 4- 9 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH THE WESTFALL -GALLAGHER GROUP, INC. TO PROVIDE EXECUTIVE TRAINING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SUGGESTIONS OF THE BLUE RIBBON INITIATIVES FOR THE SENIOR EXECUTIVE STAFF IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $24,750 FROM ACCOUNT NO. 001000.921202.6.410. WHEREAS, the City of Miami has received recommendations from the various committees and from the Blue Ribbon Initiatives reviewing City business practices and has adopted those recommendations for implementation through the City's five-year plan; and WHEREAS, the majority of the recommendations relate to better understanding of the requirements of team success, problem solving analysis and plan implementation; and WHEREAS, the City's recently -implemented training program does not include the level of professional training necessary for CITY COMMSSIOK MEETING OF JUN 2 2 1999 Revolution No. 99- 419 the senior executive staff; and WHEREAS, the Westfall -Gallagher Group, Inc. has submitted a proposal to provide this training to the senior executive staff at an acceptable cost of less than $25,000 for two three-day sessions and has performed similar services for the City of Miami. Police Department in the past; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Background: Several items emanating from the Blue Ribbon Initiatives are interdepartmental and cross -functional. In order for the City to enjoy any real success in the implementation of these initiatives, it is essential that the executive leadership develop a better understanding of the requirements for team success, understand methodologies for brainstorming and problem analysis, and plan implementation. The vendor identified is well-equipped to provide these services. The contract envisioned will include two three day sessions for all senior executives in the City.
