Warshaw REFERENCES City Manager ENCLOSURES: TION The City of Miami Street Codesignation Committee recommends that the City of Miami Commission adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the codesignation of SW 21 Avenue from SW 6 Street to SW 8 Street as "Pinar Del Rio Way". BACKGROUND Many Cuban immigrants who now make Miami their home, once lived in Pinar Del Rio in the island of Cuba. While a small province of Cuba, Pinar Del Rio has made an indelible mark on the City of Miami by the contributions of the "pinarenos" to the City of Miami. Those immigrants now wish to memorialize their homeland and pass on their pride and memories to future generations of Cuban Americans. L I,3y4 DHW/R /JJK1/mm PinarDeIRio-MEM0.doc 99— o
