A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ADVISORY
BOARD FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of the City of Miami Affirmative Action
Advisory Board, each to serve a term expiring February 8, 2000,
or until the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever
occurs first:

The Affirmative Action Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Personnel Department.
Six appointments and one confirmation are needed at this time:
• Chairman Plummer has two nominations for seats currently vacant due to the resignation
of Vicky Garcia -Toledo and excessive absences of Robert Grill.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for vacant seat created because Ivan Barrett,
who had been nominated by former Commissioner Hernandez, was excessively absent.
• Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for vacant seat created because Ricardo Core
was excessively absent.
• Commissioner Teele has one nomination for vacant seat created because Charles J. Flowers
was excessively absent.
• Vice Chairman Gort has one nomination for vacant seat created because Nora Hernandez -
Hendrix was excessively absent.
• The Commission at -large is requested to confirm the reappointment of Edward Pidermann
as the representative of the Miami Association of Fire Fighters.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the May
11, 1999 Commission agenda. This issue was partly deferred from the February 9`h and the
March 23, 1999 Commission meetings.
