HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0300%I- J-99-447 4/27/99 RF:GnT.T7TTnN NO. t1 :� — 300 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO CEASE ALL ACTIONS RELATED TO THE PURCHASE AND SALE OF THE PROPERTY WITH IMPROVEMENTS LOCATED AT 900 SOUTHWEST 1ST STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA (THE "PROPERTY"), COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE MANUEL ARTIME THEATER, AND TO REMOVE SAID PROPERTY FROM THE LIST OF CITY -OWNED REAL PROPERTIES DECLARED AS SURPLUS. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 97-178, adopted March 20, 1997, the City Commission authorized the City Manager to sell the City -owned real property with improvements located at 900 Southwest 1st Street, Miami, Florida (the "Property"), commonly known as the Manuel Artime Theater; and WHEREAS, the Office of Asset Management issued an Invitation to Bid ("ITB") for the sale of the Property and on June 30, 1998, two bids were received in response to said ITB; and WHEREAS, Section 29-B of the City Charter, as amended, requires approval by the electorate prior to consummation of a sale by the City Commission when less than three bids are received; and WHEREAS, rather than incur the cost of a referendum, both CITY cobMSSION MEETING OF APR 2 Z 1999 Resolution No. 99- '300 1N r bidders withdrew their proposals; and WHEREAS, the Office of Asset Management reissued an ITB for the sale of said Property and on November 18, 1998, two bids were received in response to said ITB; and WHEREAS, rather than incur the cost of a referendum, both bidders withdrew their proposals; and WHEREAS, the Office of Asset Management issued a third ITB for the sale of said Property; however, no proposals were received on the required deadline date of March 17, 1999; and WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it in the best interest of the City to remove the Manuel Artime Theater from the list of declared surplus City -owned real properties and to cease all actions related to the purchase and sale of said Property; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to cease all actions related to the purchase and sale of the property with improvements located at 900 Southwest 1st Street, Miami, Florida (the "Property"), commonly known as the Manuel Artime Theater, and to remove said Property from the list of City -owned real - 2 - 99- 300 properties declared as surplus. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor Y PASSED AND ADOPTED this 27th day of Ala ri1 , 1999.
