HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0220r;, t J-99-316 3/23/99 RESOLUTION NO. 9 9- 2 2 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RELATED TO THE THIRD ANNUAL MIAMI RIVERDAY FESTIVAL, CONDUCTED IN PART BY THE CITY OF MIAMI DEPARTMENTS OF PLANNING AND REAL, ESTATE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, TO BE HELD AT LUMMUS PARK, ALONG THE MIAMI RIVER, AND AT THE MIAMI SCOTTISH RITE MASONIC CENTER ON APRIL 3, 1999; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO WAIVE ALL NON-LABOR/PERMIT FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT, CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS: (1) PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT; (2) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE; (3) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE DESIGNEE. CITY MANAGER OR HIS WHEREAS, for the last two years, the City of Miami has conducted the Miami Riverday Festival at Lummus Park, along the Miami River and at the Miami Scottish Rite Masonic Center, organized through the efforts of the Departments of Real Estate and Economic Development, the Planning Department, and the Downtown Development Authority, Dade Heritage Trust, the Miami River Commission and the Miami River Marine Group; and WHEREAS, scheduled for this year's festival on April 3, 1999, are children's activities, historic re-enactments, a marine business exposition, antique boat displays, neighborhood walking CITY COYNDuIImon MEETING OF MAR 2 3 1999 Revolution no. 99- 220 F tours, riverboat tours, a pioneer trading post, Miccousukee Crafts, music and food; and WHEREAS, approximately loot of said event's expenses have been provided by private sponsors and in -kind donations; and WHEREAS, waivers totaling approximately $2,606.85, are requested for all non-labor/permit fees (police permit fee and surcharge, fire assembly permit and administrative fee, solid waste equipment rental fees, parks and recreation equipment rental fees, public works street use fee, banner fee, general services administration banner hanging fee, etc.); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to waive all non-labor/permit fees related to the Third Annual Miami Riverday Festival, conducted in part by the City of Miami Departments of Planning and Real Estate and Economic Development to be held at Lummus Park, along the Miami River, and the Miami Scottish Rite Masonic Center on April 3, 1999. Section 3. The herein waivers are hereby conditioned upon the organizers (1) paying for all other necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event; (2) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee; and (3) complying -2- 99- `200 with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager or his designee. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.11 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of March , 1999. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
