A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPROVING THE APPLICATION BY FLORIDA
INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT HOTEL & BAKERY
EXPOSITION, INC. FOR A TWO-DAY STATE LIQUOR
PERMIT TO ALLOW AN ON SITE DISPLAY BY
MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS
LICENSED UNDER THE STATE OF FLORIDA BEVERAGE
LAW, AND TO ALLOW CONSUMPTION OF SUCH
BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT
GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA,
DURING THE PERIOD OF JULY 10-11, 1999, SUCH
APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO
THE ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT FROM THE STATE OF
FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, Florida International Restaurant Hotel & Battery
Exposition, Inc., wishes to present a show at the Coconut Grove
Convention Center July 10-11, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statute, Section 561.421, the "State
Beverage Law", states that in convention halls, coliseums, and
similar buildings where there is an existing beverage license,
the incorporated city, town, or board of county commissioners,
may approve the issuance of a permit, for not more than five
calendar days, for manufacturers or distributor of products

licensed under the Beverage Law to display such products; and
WHEREAS, the State Beverage Law further states that said
manufacturers or distributors may be authorized to distribute
said licensed products for consumption on the premises only
during the license period; and
WHEREAS, the approval of the City Commission is required for
a permit to be issued for liquor display and consumption during
the show to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center July
10-11, 1999;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section i. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby app
roves the
application by FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT HOTEL & BAKERY
EXPOSITION, INC. for a two-day State liquor permit to allow an on
site display by manufacturers or distributors of
products
licensed under the State of Florida Beverage Law, and to allow
consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayorl1,

1/ If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving
the request by Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery Exposition, Inc. for a two-day
liquor permit. This permit will allow the display by manufacturers or distributors of products
licensed under the State Beverage Law, and the consumption of such beverages, on the premises of
the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of July 10-11, 1999.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommends that the City
Commission approve the request of Florida International Restaurant, Hotel & Bakery Exposition,
Inc. for a two-day liquor permit. Section 561.421, TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, of
the Florida State Beverage Law, states:
In convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an
existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town
or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue
a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by
manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law;
and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only.
The beverages will be dispensed free of charge during the Florida International Restaurant, Hotel &
Bakery Exposition.
