FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission DATE: FEB 1 1999 FILE : sua,iECT Resolution Accepting a Donation FROM: -■ REFERENCES: Donald H. Warshaw ENCLOSURES: Commission Mtg. 2/9/99 City Manager RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution ratifying the City Manager's action in accepting a donation of the demolition of a small bathroom building at Blanche Park. This donation, which is valued at an estimated cost of $1,750, was made possible by the Center Grove Homeowner's Association who paid MIS Construction and Nu Life, Inc. for the demolition. BACKGROUND: It has been several years since the Center Grove Homeowner's Association has requested that a small inoperable bathroom building at Blanche Park be demolished. Funds for the demolition were secured through the Safe Neighborhood Bond Program. Recently, the Center Grove Homeowner's Association agreed to donate the demolition by paying MIS Construction and Nu Life, Inc. to complete it. We agreed to work with them in identifying other needed improvements in the park that would be accomplished with the funds the City saved by not having to pay for the demolition. Since the contractor was ready to start and the connnunity was urging us to complete this demolition as soon as possible, we proceeded to authorize it taking place. We are now seeking your "after the fact" authorization of this donation. DHW/RM/AR/ms 99- 95 l ,.,rrit°xtv...m. -.^••^S+Awgm,+wsxaerriq;i3Y,"y.d.Flt4i„ii+ -r' ar - _., - .. ..
