J-99-46 1/12/99 RESOLUTION NO. 5 J — �+ A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF FUNDS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,475.80, THE SURPLUS FUNDS ON DEPOSIT IN COMMISSIONER JOE SANCHEZ' CAMPAIGN ACCOUNT, TO BE DEPOSITED IN THE GENERAL REVENUE FUND IN THE MISCELLANEOUS REVENUE ACCOUNT, TRANSFERRING SAID EXPENSES FROM SPECIAL PROGRAM AND ACCOUNTS, FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF INCREASING POLICE PROTECTION AND CRIME PREVENTION TO THE ROBERT KING HIGH TOWERS, AND MARTIN FINE AND HALEY SOFGE BUILDINGS BY EXPANDING THE HUD (HOUSING URBAN DEVELOPMENT) OVERTIME POLICE SECURITY PROGRAM. WHEREAS, due to the absence of any opposition to fill the remainder of an unexpired term for the District 3 Commission Seat of the City of Miami, Florida, Joe Sanchez was declared Commissioner of District 3, pursuant to Resolution No. 98-1051, adopted October 27, 1998; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 106.141, Florida Statutes (1997), an unopposed candidate shall, within 90 days, dispose of the funds on deposit in his account that have not been spent or obligated; and F� C• WHEREAS, Commissioner Sanchez wishes to donate to the City € of Miami for public purpose the unobligated and unspent funds on LAITY COYMSSION METING OF JAKI 9 2 1999 2i000ludon No. t j, W deposit in his campaign account, in the amount of $8,475.80; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1.. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The donation of funds, in the amount of $8,475.80, the surplus funds on deposit in Commissioner Joe Sanchez' Campaign Account, is hereby accepted to be deposited in the General Revenue Fund in the Miscellaneous Revenue Account, transferring said expenses from Special Program and Accounts, for the sole purpose of increasing police protection and crime prevention to the Robert King High Towers, and Martin Fine and Haley Sofge Buildings by expanding the HUD (Housing Urban Development) Overtime Police Security Program. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective - 2 - immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.1/ PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12.th _ day of January , 1999.
