HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-99-0022J-99-31 12/28/98 RESOLUTION NO. e 1 :7 — 22 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING THE APPLICATION BY GOURMET WINE CLUB, INC., FOR A FOUR -DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT TO ALLOW MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER THE STATE BEVERAGE LAW, TO DISPLAY AND ALLOW CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, DURING THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 21-24, 1999, SUCH APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO THE STATE'S ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT. WHEREAS, Gourmet Wine Club, Inc., wishes to present a show at the Coconut Grove Convention Center on January 21-24, 1999; and WHEREAS, Florida Statute, Section 561.421, the "State Beverage Law", states that in convention halls, coliseums, and similar buildings where there is an existing beverage license, the incorporated city, town, or board of county commissioners, may approve the issuance of a permit, for not more than five calendar days, for manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law to display such products; and WHEREAS, the State Beverage Law furthers states that said manufacturers or distributors may be authorized to distribute said licensed products for consumption on the premises CM COMMSSION MEETrNG OF Resolution No. F� f only during the license period; and [_ WHEREAS, the approval of the City Commission is required for 4' a permit to be issued for liquor display and consumption during r� the show to be held at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in January, 1999; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY E> OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: "~ Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this is Section. Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby approves the application by Gourmet Wine Club Expo, Inc., for a four -day liquor permit to allow manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, to display and allow consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of January 21-24, 1999, such approval being a statutory requisite prior to the state's issuance of said permit. This permit will allow the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, and the consumption of such beverages, on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida. during the period of January 21-24, 1999. l BACKGROUND: The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommends that the City Commission approve the request of Gourmet Wine Club, Inc. for a four -day liquor permit. Section 561.421, TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, of the Florida State Beverage Law, states: In convention halls, coliseums. and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law; f and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only.
