Foe FROM: City Cl DATE: December 2, 1998 FILE: SUBJECT: Proposed Resolution: Authorize City Manager to Accept Donation of Furniture REFERENCES: A REOMMENDATION The administration recommends that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a donation from the Miami Passport Agency of four chairs for our Passport Acceptance Facility service/processing area, located at Coconut Grove Exhibition Center (south end of the building) 2700 South Bayshore Drive. This improvement to the Passport Acceptance Facility has an estimated value of $80.00. BACKGROUND On April 14, 1998 the City Commission authorized the City Clerk to formerly submit written notification to the U.S. Department of State, Office of Passport Services, of the City of Miami's expressed interest in becoming an authorized Passport Acceptance Facility. On May 27, 1998 the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs (Passport Services) officially approved City of Miami as a Passport Acceptance Facility, designating certain staff persons as Passport Acceptance Agents for the purpose of accepting applications for passports and administering oaths in connection therewith. Since the opening of Passport Acceptance Facility on October 30, 1998 the Office of the City Clerk has borrowed furniture from varying City departments. The immediate acceptance of the $80.00 donation will allow for our Passport Agents to have chairs at the service windows in furtherance of reviewing passport applications. 99- 17 7777T777777777. ,a.*A.. <Ti ¢:NF n'W';4:i'il. • rr NS )10x GS:.'3 FAT 3035 IV 66U PPT'}N z • { ram, United States Departineal of state Passport Agent 51 S.
