A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING OF THE
"MIAMI URBAN MINISTRIES YOUTH PROGRAM", IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $4,950.00; ALLOCATING
FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST
FUND, PROJECT NOS. 690001, 690002 AND 690003,
SUCH EXPENDITURE HAVING BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE
CHIEF OF POLICE AS COMPLYING WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY'S "GUIDE TO
EQUITABLE SHARING" AND FLORIDA STATUTE,
SECTION 932.7055, AS AMENDED.
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing" and Florida Statute, Section 932.7055, as
amended, authorize the expenditure of forfeited cash or proceeds
for certain law enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Police Department supports programs that
give youth a positive incentive for personal improvement; and
WHEREAS, Miami Urban Ministries has developed such a program
entitled OASIS, which is offered to inner-city youth focusing on
leadership development, career choices, cultural and ethnic
pride, enhancement of family relationships, and spiritual growth;
and
WHEREAS, funds to cover said expenditure are available from

the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Nos. 690001, 690002, and
690003, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of
Police as complying with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's
"Guide to Equitable Sharing" and Florida Statute, Section
932.7055, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. Fund of the "Miami Urban Ministries Youth
Program", in an amount not to exceed $4,950, is hereby
authorized, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Nos. 690001, 690002, and 690003,
such expenditure having been approved by the Chief of Police as
complying with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's "Guide to
Equitable Sharing" and Florida Statute, Section 932.7055, as
amended.
Section 3 This Resolution shall becomeeffective immediately

upon its adoption and signature of the Mayorll.

1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If
the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately
upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

RECOMMEDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing funding, in the amount of $4,950.00, for the Miami Urban Ministries Youth Program.
Funding is to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001,
690002. and 690003.
BACKGROUND
The Miami Police Department supports programs such as those offered by the Miami Urban
Ministries Youth Program. The Miami Urban Ministries has developed a city-wide youth
program, called OASIS, which offers positive experiences for inner-city youth in the areas of
leadership development. career aspirations, cultural/ethnic pride, family enhancement, and spiritual
nurture. This year's program entitled. "The Beauty of Miami's Multi-Culturality" will focus on
helping the youth understand how all races and etlinicities are a strategic part of the Miami
community, the United States and our world.
