Consideration of amending Article 6, Section 609 of Zoning
Ordinance 11000 of the City of Miami
N/A
PETITION Consideration of amending Ordinance 11000, as amended, the
Zoning Ordinance of the City of Miami, Florida, by amending
Article 6, Section 609. SD-9 Biscayne Boulevard North Overlay
District, to modify the signage regulations for certain portions of
SD-9.
PLANNING Approval.
RECOMMENDATION
BACKGROUND AND The proposed amendment to the SD-9 sign regulations will
ANALYSIS enable larger establishments which are located within the
district, but not directly on Biscayne Boulevard, to provide more
visible signage. This has become a particular problem for the
Biscayne Shopping Center located within SD-9 to the west of the
Boulevard at 79'" Street. Larger establishments in shopping
center situations need the C-1 sign regulations in order to be
more competitive and attract appropriate tenants. This will help
assure the success of new businesses wishing to locate in such
spaces.
