A RESOLUTION GF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ESTABLISHING SIXTY-FOUR (64) HOURS PER PAY
PERIOD AS FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT FOR THE
PURPOSE'S OF COMPUTING HEALTH, PENSION AND
~t~9PLOYEE BENEFITS, AS MAY BE APPLICABLE AND
AS'~_OTHERWISE NOT FROHIFsITED, AS PERTAINS TO
CERTAIN CITY PERSONNEL.
WHEREAS, certain employees of the City require maximum
flexibility iri performing the duties and responsibilities
concomitant with their employment; and
WHEREAS, the flexibility to adjust working hours is
sometimes required in order to properly perform the duties
assigned to those employees; and
WHEREAS, the current requirement to work 40 hours per week
in order to be considered a full time employee restricts the
flexibility necessary for certain employees of the City of Miami;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CO~IISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI , FLORIDA : ~~

In accordance with Commissioner's Teele's request, attached is a resolution
establishing 64 hours per pay period as fiull-time employment for purposes of
computing health, pension and employee benefits. Additionally, attached is an
analysis of the financial impact associated with this change.

NOTES:
1} A MAfVAATORY 10% contribution for pension purposes would be required of 32-hour full-time employees.
2} The % increase from new benefits may be higher. The 14.9°J° used for pension is an estimate of the cost to the City, and must be
actuarially determined.
3) The 32 hour option for current 40 hour employees must be negotiated with AFSCME.
4) 1f this provision is implemented, it will not be available to Police, Fire, or Solid Waste employees,
